FountainGrove Medspa offers the safe and non-invasive Fraxel® Laser Treatments
Fraxel® laser treatments allow you to rediscover the glowing, luminous skin of your youth. The fractional approach uses the body’s natural healing process to create new, vibrant, and healthier-looking skin.
The Fraxel® laser treatment produce thousands of miniscule, but deep columns in your skin known as microscopic treatment zones. This treatment will eliminate old pigmented cells. It penetrates deep into the layers of the skin, but there are the areas of skin the Fraxel laser leaves untouched.
For every microscopic zone the laser targets and treats, it leaves the surrounding tissue unaffected and intact. This allows the skin to heal much faster than if the entire area were treated at once. Using the body’s natural healing process to create new, healthy, tighter tissue to replace skin imperfections.

HOW THE TREATMENT WORKS
Fraxel laser treatments target aging and sun-damaged skin with microscopic laser columns that penetrate deep into your skin to expedite your body’s collagen remodeling. The laser treats only a fraction of tissue at a time, and as such it leaves the surrounding tissue intact, promoting rapid healing. Fraxel treatment resurfaces your skin by stimulating the growth of new, healthy skin cells from the inside out.

How do I Prepare For Fraxel® Laser Treatments
At the consultation we will discuss medications needed prior to and during your treatment.
Patients should arrive 60-90 minutes prior to appointment time so local anesthesia can be applied to the treatment area. Then the area will be thoroughly cleansed before we start. Treatments usually take approximately 30 minutes and are well-tolerated.
What Can I Expect During the Treatment Process
The laser hand-piece will be glided across the decided upon treatment area and a special cooling device will blow chilled air across the skin as it is being treated. While the hand-piece delivers the laser energy, you will feel a heated prickling sensation and hear a sound from the machine that resembles chirping.
What happens after the Fraxel® treatment?
Patients tend to experience a mild sunburn sensation for up to an hour following the procedure.
Your skin will have a red tone for two to three weeks. This is normal and indicates that your skin is healing. A few days following the treatment, you may begin to apply make-up and many patients are able to return to routine activities, including work and social obligations, one day after treatment. However, patients should avoid exercising for up to one week.
New epidermal skin develops within 24 hours.
Acne flare-ups may occur after Fraxel® laser treatments. In this case, an oral antibiotic may be prescribed. Over the following weeks and months, the body repairs the deeper dermal tissues that have been affected by the Fraxel® treatment. This produces more beneficial and longer lasting changes associated with a healthy, youthful appearance.
What can I expect to see during the healing process?
After treatment, your skin will go through a repair process. This process of skin repair involves:
Bronzing: Your skin will have a bronze appearance that lasts anywhere from 3 to 14 days, depending on your treatment level.
Flaking: Your skin will naturally and vigorously exfoliate as new skin replaces dead tissue. Flaking is similar to that of a minor sunburn, but without the associated pain. Use of medical grade moisturizers will assist in minimizing the appearance of flaking.
Sunblock: Use sunblock at least 2x daily to protect your skin from sun exposure during the healing phase and for several months after treatment. For added protection from sunlight, you may want to use wide-brimmed hats.
